Katherine Woods

Director & Solicitor

Katherine completed her schooling in Gippsland before relocating to Melbourne, where she undertook degrees in Law and Business Information Systems. During her legal studies, she was a dedicated volunteer at several prominent community legal centres, including the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre in Footscray and WestJustice in Sunshine. These experiences deepened her understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable members of the community and sparked a lasting passion for promoting access to justice.

Admitted to practice in both the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia in 2018, Katherine launched her legal career at a well-regarded general practice firm in Melbourne. In 2020, she returned to her Gippsland roots to join Tyler Tipping & Woods, where she now practices predominantly in family law, criminal law, intervention orders, and child protection matters.

Katherine is a confident and experienced advocate who regularly appears before the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria, and the Children’s Court of Victoria. She is also a trusted member of the Victoria Legal Aid panel for both family law and family violence cases.

In addition to her legal practice, Katherine is a committed contributor to the local legal community. She sits on the steering committee of the Gippsland Family Law Pathways Network and serves as an active committee member of the Gippsland Law Association, where she continues to support collaboration and professional development across the region.
